La Peluquería - Barber Shop

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:30

Last night, we had our girls' night on the nature of godly beauty. We asked the girls what the people around them say they should be like. These 10-12 year-olds said.."Sexy, thin, and beautiful." This is just what we expected but still shocking considering their age. For Argentine women, their power is in their beauty..not education, not money. From very young ages, their parents tell them they must be beautiful to achieve.. so that's what they strive for. It's a very sad cycle lacking the hope of the Gospel. Amy and I challenged the girls to think beyond the call for outer beauty and see what God calls beauty. We encouraged them with the Proverbs 31:30 verse in the call to fear the Lord.

The idea for this evening came from seeing that some of these girls really needed to wash their hair. We let two girls, Ayalen and Nyer, come and soak in bath salts early. We set up the bath and explained how to use them... I had to laugh, one little girl called from the bath tub, "Amy, how do I wash my hair?" Kindly, she explained to her. Here are the before pictures of the three girls, Ayalen, Nyer, and Micalea.

Amy and I first messaged their hair in coconut shampoo/conditioner, which apparently prevents lice. ;)

Then we cut..only Ayalen was brave enough to get a few bangs and a little trim.

Next we dried. It is amazing how beautiful their hair was after a good wash!

Then, the curls...

Finally, three beautiful and clean girls!

They looked great and were really happy. Wonderful night but very tiring night!
